A family is serving dinner tonight in honour of a former guest and friend of Hope Mission. We asked if they would share a paragraph or two about their efforts that they call The Friends of Jordie.

Here’s what they shared.

The Friends of Jordie are donations gathered from friends and family to provide a couple of special meals each year to those who use the Hope Mission. The whole idea began one Christmas Eve at our family dinner with friends. Instead of the regular gift exchange it was decided that the money would go to much better use given to the Hope Mission. Since then, people connected with our family and friends have been extremely generous, not only with donations but also giving food, clothes and their time to help others. The Sorrentino’s Group and Fuss Cupcakes, who both had connections to Jordie, have also been incredibly giving and supportive.

We are constantly amazed how much attention and awareness this has raised among people who knew Jordie and know us. It’s very special that friends of Jordie are giving and friends of Jordie are receiving. We are grateful to the Hope Mission – to the food and shelter the Mission provided for Jordie in his time of need. All the generous donations from friends and family are our way of giving back, helping others in their time of need. Jordie touched many lives and through this fund will continue to do so.
