I’ve been spending some time at the Hope Mission as part of a course for University. I find it strangely amazing: I was standing a the door of the mission, handing out blankets cleaned by someone else and a sandwich made by another’s hands, and probably 140 out of 160 looked me straight in the eye and said thank you. It was humbling that so many of them took the time to ‘see’ me when at university I can walk the entire day and make eye contact with half a dozen people and all of them act embarrassed that it happened. -HM Volunteer
