The indoor skateboard park
marks a permanent commitment to youth ministry. The popularity
of activities such as skateboarding and wall climbing opens up
an avenue for staff and caring volunteers to create and build
relationships with youth living in Northeast Edmonton.
Kids in Action
Josh
Culling

At "Kids In Action" we
serve children 6 to 12 years old. Even at this age many of
these children are confronted with decisions that will affect
the rest of their lives. With help from caring people
compassion can be shared and timely support given.
Each week Kids In Action
staff and volunteers show up at one of five inner city or
Northeast elementary
schools with a full program of games, drama, music and
a
hot meal. Kids are cared for and through
this relationships are built and Christ is shared.
Our prayer is that by
presenting and modeling
the love of Christ, these children, and through them even
their families, may find the true hope that is in Jesus
Christ.
Should you have any
questions, or if you are interested in investing in the lives
of children and young people, please contact us.

Mission Statement:
To strengthen and support homeless youth by meeting their
basic needs, offering them hope, and equipping them through a
helping relationship, to become contributors to their
community.
There are many homeless
youth in distress in Edmonton. The majority of them are
escaping from abusive
families and troubled backgrounds. Many have addictions,
suffer from mental illnesses, and have few resources. Daily
life is a constant struggle and many are overwhelmed by fear
and loneliness.
In response to this need, the Hope Mission Youth Shelter was
developed to help provide warm and secure accommodation for
this inner-city population.
The Youth Shelter is an
emergency mat facility for male and female youth under the age
of 21. Our hours of operation are 9pm-9am.
We provide a warm place to
sleep, snacks, breakfast, and a bagged lunch.
Outreach staff work
one-on-one with young people who want further help finding a
job, looking for permanent housing, getting into a day program
or school.

Brightwood Ranch Camp
In
1996,
through
a
growing emphasis
on children and youth ministry,
Hope Mission started
a summer camp program. What
began
as two camps,
each a week long, has grown to
six
camps. Each week is
filled with a
full slate of games, crafts, outdoor skills and recreation.
The kids
experience
genuine excitement and growth
not only through the
wide variety of
activities,
but also through
new friendships,
firesides, chapel
times, and
through
the
personal
investment of camp workers and counsellors.

Hope Mission's Summer
Camp (now Brightwood
Ranch Camp)
hosts over 500
under-privileged elementary and junior high kids
each summer.
The kids are primarily from the inner-city and Northeast side
of Edmonton. Many kids
come as a
result of their contact through Kids In Action and
the
Youth
Sports Centre.
We are
committed to excellence
and good
stewardship. As such we
are able to provide a safe, exciting and well organized camp
at a very reasonable cost.
Food, housing,
property maintenance, insurance, transportation, equipment,
staffing and incidentals add up to $225 per week ($45.00 per
day), per youth or child.
Over the
summer
Hope Mission will use close to 100
skilled and compassionate
volunteers.
