Outreach

"Open your hand to the poor and needy neighbour in your land." Deuteronomy 15:11

Hope Mission was founded by Christians who deeply desired to reach out to marginalized people. This desire continues to define Hope Mission.

Through the support of Edmonton church communities we hold a gospel service with a served lunch, every evening of the week, year round, in the Herb Jamieson Centre. There is also a coffee house scheduled many Saturday night. As well, Hope Mission serves special event dinners, banquets and BBQ's for the inner city community.

But reaching out also involves going to where the people are. Our counselors and Chaplains visit people in prisons, bars, hospitals, shelters and other agencies. Contacts are made and follow-ups are done, all in an effort to show the love of Jesus Christ and the possibility of forgiveness and freedom in him.

Hope Mission continues to explore other exciting ways to reach the inner city. Outdoor barbecues and musical concerts, banquets and drama presentations, as well as special events through cooperation with other Christian organizations, are all avenues to forming caring relationships with inner city people.

In addition, in 2006 Hope Mission founded the HOPE MISSION CHURCH. Services are held every Sunday. For information please contact Alan Pysar. (see left column)

Many people have found that Hope Mission offers a unique vehicle to proclaim Jesus Christ through serving. If you are interested in volunteering, or if you desire to further this ministry through giving, please contact us.

Ministry Van e Outreach

One of Hope Mission's truly unique ways of reaching into the community is through our Ministry Van. Hope staff use a converted ambulance to care for people in crisis on Edmonton's inner-city streets. We provide food, clothing, blankets and other essentials, transportation, referrals, contact and assist in emergency situations otherwise generally and genuinely care for people on the street.

This service (originally known as the "man-down" program) is a joint endevour between Hope Mission, Edmonton Police Service, and Edmonton Emergency Services.
