Food Services

On a daily basis, Hope Mission opens its doors to Edmonton’s inner city providing food services that centre on three core objectives: valuing food & nutrition, building human relationships, and dining with dignity.

Our kitchen is dedicated to ensuring that our community members receive nutritionally balanced meals prepared with the same care and attention as home meals. Striving for excellence, we serve three meals a day, five days a week with a weekend service of brunch and dinner. The meals are provided free of charge.

As poverty and social issues are without prejudice we see men, women and youth who come from diverse backgrounds and situations. Those who use our services have faced a multitude of barriers stemming from economic hardships to job loss to mental health and addiction concerns.

With many of our community having limited access to cooking facilities and food, their health is often compromised. So, it is our responsibility to become stewards of health. It is our mission to be a supportive environment that feeds the body and the soul.

Meal Times

All meals are served at the Hope Mission Centre >
Monday through Friday – 8am, 12 noon & 5pm
Saturday, Sunday & Holidays – 11am & 4:30pm

Food & Nutrition

The mandate of our food services department is progressive. We aim beyond the basic and deliver outstanding healthy menus. To meet our goals we deliver balanced meals, consisting of fresh produce, legumes, lean meats, wheat and dairy products. This allows our community members their daily essential nutritional requirements, while reducing fatty foods and empty calories. Future goals include maintaining and building relationships with our donors who provide 60% of our food products.

It costs Hope Mission $2.70 to provide one person with a meal.

Daily menu

- Breakfast (125-250 people): cereal or oats, fresh fruit, and toast
- Lunch (250-300 people): soup, salad

Human relationships

Our philosophy of building community relations is an integral ingredient in our kitchen. As the frontline for those entering Hope Mission, we attempt to create a sense of belonging in a space that promotes healing, hope, and change. At Hope Mission, everyone has a place to grow together and where every face matters.
