WELLSPRING RECOVERY COMMUNITY

Wellspring is a faith-based, one year long addiction recovery program for women. Intake is done on an ongoing basis. Life skills such as health and nutrition, meal planning, money management and building community are taught. Women set goals and are supported in attaining these goals. These may include continuing education, job training, or restoring family relationships. Clients are then assisted in finding housing and employment as they leave the program.

In house, every woman is assigned a case manager that meets weekly with them. Relapse prevention and community hour occur every Friday. Clients have access to detox at AADAC and the George Spady Centre.

WOMEN’S EMERGENCY SHELTER

The Hope Mission Women’s Emergency Shelter (9908 – 106 Avenue) provides a safe place to sleep for homeless women. The Women’s Shelter is open year round, seven days a week from, 8 pm to 8 am. There is sleeping space available for 70 people.

- Provided over 5400 sleeping spaces in the first 6 months of 2010.

Stepping Stones

Stepping Stones is an outreach drop-in service which provides women a safe place during the day. The program operates out of the main Hope Mission building Monday to Friday mornings from 9 to 11:30 am. Women have access to showers, are given coffee and snacks, and share a devotional time of Bible study. Outreach workers assist in scheduling appointments with physicians and mental health specialists; offer referrals to support programs in the community; advocate for women in court; assist with housing and support mothers through the process of pregnancy and help them get established in parenting. Many of the women enter into the Wellspring recovery program.
