Youth Development Programs

Our Youth Development Programs are for teens interested in learning more about God, who are willing to serve and desire to develop leadership skills. Participants sleep in tents, cook over a fire and spend time building meaningful and lasting friendships in a group of 10-14 people. These programs require an application form which can be download below each listed camp.

The Go Team (Ages 13-15)

The GO Team is a one week program in which campers engage in service projects, camp activities, and enjoying the outdoors. They also have opportunities for personal growth and to learn more about God.

Graduates from this program maybe be eligible to come back to camp the following summer and help in the kitchen or on maintenance or take the LDP or Rhythm. The Go Team live in their own tent village separate from the main site. Two staff lead this program with 12 youth.

Rhythm (Ages 14-17)

A two week program that will challenge you and expand your world. Develop new skills in areas such as archery, wall climbing, horseback riding and riflery. Enjoy a two to four day, off-site camping trip! An opportunity for growth and understanding; to walk more in Rhythm with God. This is for youth who may not be ready for the requirements and responsibilities of the Leadership Development Program.

Leadership Development (Ages 15-17)

A four week program where participants receive the skills and training necessary to become a Brightwood Staff Member. As part of the program, participants attend a week-long, off-site canoe trip. We expect participants will have a higher degree of maturity. The program comes with more work, higher expectations and requirements to complete than the Rhythm program.

Week One
A canoe trip. this trip will expose you to the outdoors , stretch your abilities, and help your group grow together as you prepare for the next 3 weeks.

Week Two
The emphasis is on personal growth: leadership, service, discipline, etc.

Week Three
The emphasis is on camp activity skill development: archery, climbing wall, crafts, etc.

Week Four

You will spend this week with a cabin group learning how to interact with and impact campers.

All four weeks will have times spent in Bible study, service projects, camp activities, and tons of fun!

Wrangler Training (Ages 14-17)

A four week program consisting of skill and knowledge development, a week long trail ride, growth in the Christian faith, mentoring younger kids and helping them care for horses and learning to minister in a camp setting.

Two sessions to choose from (Cost $100- contact us if this is an issue):

-Girls July 1-25
-Guys July 29-August 23

Week One and Three
training includes: grooming and tacking, horse knowledge and care, improving your riding ability, learning to be safe around horses, learning to teach kids, and learning to serve campers through Jesus.

Week Two
A 5 day horse trip to a 13,000 acre grazing reserve. You will spend your week riding out on the range, sleeping in a tent and cooking your own food.

Week Four
A practical time in helping at the barn with teaching young kids to ride, barn chores, and site maintenance. strong>

Please note: The expectations will be high in regards to responsibilities and the requirements to successfully compete this program.
